An Epiphany

It has been manifest to me that maybe I write way too much on here and don't put enough pictures.  Heck, I was  browsing ev1's blog and, yup, I'm the only one without pictures!  So... without further adieu, my next post will be chock-full of pictures.  I don't know from where or of who, but pictures you will see!

A Happier Me

As many of you know, I have diabetes among other things... okay, I'm FAT!  There, I said it! Sheesh!!  Well for two - three weeks now I've been on a roller coaster (diet), the kind that twists and turns out of control.  Reason for this diet or new way of living skinny people like to call it is so I can bring my sugar count and weight down.

So far, I've lost a few pounds and a lot of inches.  I feel great!  To keep the motivation rolling, I set a goal for the week and I reward myself every Friday, but not with food.  So a week or so ago, I order a bunch of clothes online, the only place a person of my physique can shop, and finally got 'em last night.  To my surprise, everything was WAY too big!  I was and still am ecstatic!  As I was trying on the newly-bought clothes, I was emotional with my loss.

The test, however, was to see if I could fit a pair of jeans I bought last year three sizes too small.  "Should I?" I asked myself.  Everyone who ever dieted knows that you NEVER weigh or measure yourself everyday cause there'll be HUGE disappointment if there is no loss or weight gain.  I tried the pair of jeans on and it fit!  I was motivated to lose 200 more pounds.  I showed mom and she said "sit!"  What?  "Sit!"  she says.

Well I sat and the button near busted the tv and she said, you are down two sizes not three.  I started cracking up, my mom straight "gonged my line"!  Talk about reality shock, take me there woman!

What has been the most awesome moment of all this is, on Monday dad went for a check-up and his blood pressure was way too high.  It's always been elevated but it was Eiffel Tower high.  Dr.'s were concerned and he wasn't a happy camper when he got home.  I could see the concern in mom's face.  Then I saw the concern in Ken's face when dad told him to have his wedding here.  HAHA!  You know the song, "quickly turn it upside down and smile that frown away"?  Well the total opposite!

Mom asked me about the diet I was doing and I told her it was from Tony Robbins book.  She asked if they could jump on with me and I said sure.  They started Tuesday.  Dad had another appointment yesterday and guess what y'all... his blood pressure was normal, in fact, it was perfect!  The nurse had to read it again, pump again and again.

I just thought I'd share this story with you and will continue to update you on our journey.

Let me just tell you, last night Ken came home and I threatened, not bribed, threatened him to run me to Burger King cause the avacados and cucumbers wasn't cuttin' it!  After I at threw down two, okay three, Jr. Whoppers, I felt sick!  But my mind felt great!

Stay tuned for more of A Happier Me!

Have a good Saturday and an even better Sabbath!

Note:  Please remember to do your Visiting (and Home) Teaching this month!  It's Thanksgiving, check to see if those you visit will be having Thanksgiving. God bless!

Dear Diary

It's funny how on my coupon blog, there's so much to write about, interesting stuff to write about.  And when it comes to this blog "about me", I have writer's block, BIG TIME!  Am I that boring I can't write everyday about who I am, how my day's going, my goals and aspirations?  "Yes!" says Bubbi, my three year old nephew. LOL.

How funny is that?  So... I think I will challenge myself to choose a topic each week or every two days and write about it or write about how it pertains to me or my feelings about the subject, at least I'll get some juices flowing, if any.

Thanks for checking my blog, I promise to post something tomorrow or so.

Have a great day!

Boy! Do I love Friday's...

Boy!  Do I LOVE Friday's!!!  I don't know 'bout you but as soon as I get up Friday morning, I am so excited!!!  Even if I have nothing planned or if I've been deathly sick all week, I love Friday's!  I guess it's because I'm from Hawaii where Fridays are "Aloha Fridays" and the weekend is always jumpin' in LTown!  (put 'em up, put 'em up!)

That said, I truly hope you have a Happy Aloha Friday and please be safe!  No drinking and driving, no texting and driving, no eating while driving, try not to play dj while driving and most of all Drive With Aloha!!!

Aloha!

Girrrlfriend!

Why I love my sister

The Importance Of A Sister

©  Shiv Sharma
A sister is someone who loves you from the heart,
No matter how much you argue you cannot be drawn apart.
She is a joy that cannot be taken away,
Once she enters your life, she is there to stay.

A friend who helps you through difficult times,
Her comforting words are worth much more than dimes.
A partner who fills your life with laughs and smile,
These memories last for miles and miles.

When she is by your side, the world is filled with life,
When she is not around, your days are full of strife.
A sister is a blessing, who fills your heart with love,
She flies with you in life with the beauty of a dove.

A companion to whom you can express your feelings,
She doesn’t let you get bored at family dealings.
Whether you are having your ups or downs,
She always helps you with a smile and never frowns.

With a sister you cannot have a grudge,
She is as sweet as chocolate and as smooth as fudge.
Having a sister is not just a trend,
It is knowing you can always turn to her, your best friend.

Today is Deal Day

Every Wednesday my local grocery stores start their sales/deals.  I am so sad that my beloved Albertson's will be swithing over to the other guys real soon!  They ALWAYS have great sales and great promo's that make the sale evn sweeter!  But that's gonna be a thing of the past when they change their name.

My heart goes out to all of the Center Street workers as I have gotten to know each of them.  Some, have quit in search of another job and some just don't know what their going to do.  I've offered my services and home to them where I would teach them how to coupon.  And to my surprise, many have accepted.

Folks, times are hard no matter where you live.  And some of us are lucky to have saved some money for this never-ending rainy day.  When I taught to coupon, I will always remember the video I watched of how to save your dollar you already have with couponing.  You don't look for new money, you simply keep the one you have and use it over and over again.

Couponing will not only save you money, it will allow you to build food/water storage and become prepared for any emergency quickly and easily.  When I say emergency, yes I'm talking about natural disaster but I'm also talking about unexpected lay-offs, your working spouse suddenly falls ill, those kinds of things.

If you would like to learn how to coupon online, please visit the coupon link on my sidebar and I will be willing to give you this information, FREE!

My happy place

I am most happy when I am in the service of my brother or sister.  Over they years, twelve years to be exact, I have seen the hand of the Lord at work, I have seen the pure love of Christ in action and let me tell you, it is AMAZING!

I was usually on the receiving side and it amazes me how people always show up at the right time, all the time.  Just when I thought "no more, I can't do it", someone walks into my life and makes such an impact on me and my family that we cannot help but try to give back.

If you suffer with depression, service is the best cure!  Seratonin is a chemical in our brains that control our moods.  It is usually referred to as the "happy feeling" hormone.  When we serve someone in need, our seratonin levels increasing causing a feeling of joy and happiness.  This is true not only for us, the giver, but the person on the receiving side.

I love having my very own support team.  My family is my support team.  We love to help each other and other people, as well, and when one of us have a project, we're 110% behind 'em!  The past couple of months we have been so blessed to be a part of a special little boy's life.

MJ Tokelau is a four year old boy that was diagnosed with cancer back in June of 2009.  He's such a sweet spirit and has bought many blessing to our family.  His mom is a strong woman--she is with him all hours of the day!  Her family, too, supports her in everything MJ does and need.  The Selu family emulate the love of Christ and I am so thankful to know them.

We were blessed to take part in a few events in honor of MJ.  (photos coming soon)
